Duran Machinery at drupa 2016

Leading manufacturer of carton and corrugated folder gluer technology, Duran Machinery, will be exhibiting a selection of its Omega machines on a 500sqm stand in Düsseldorf, and will for the first time include an Iberica die cutter.

Three of the company’s popular Omega folder gluers will be running live demonstrations as follows:
- An Omega Hi-Line 110, fitted with Omega Prefeeder and mobile Omega Pack unit will be running straightline cartons at high speed. The Omega Hi-Line Series' sophisticated design is aimed at maximum versatility and productivity. Hi-Line gluers provide high-speed production of the most complex carton styles with easy operation and quick changeovers between different jobs. Its modular design allows for various functions to be added, such as the Omega Turnpro, which turns the carton flow through 90 degrees, and Omega Nick Breaker for beverage cartons. Hi-Line gluers can also be customised to meet the requirements of special projects.

Omega Pack high speed automatic case packer requires only one operator. Mobility between multiple folder gluers with carton changeover time of only 15 minutes makes it a very flexible solution. It can facilitate faster run speeds with cost saving potential up to 30%, and becomes practical on orders of 50,000 or more. It can accommodate most straight-line styles, packing on crease lines or end flaps, as well as many 4/6 corner styles. Omega Pack combines automation and increased output for added value. Graphic West Packaging Machinery and Duran Machinery have cooperated in the development of Omega Pack and Drupa 2016 will introduce their successful collaboration presenting specialty solutions to converters.

- The well-proven Omega Allpro 110 will be running high speed lockbottom cartons in combination with the LOCPACK specialty case packer. Available in seven size from 55 to 165, the Allpro range handles carton and corrugated board in a variety of styles for maximum productivity. It has a maximum belt speed of 400m/min. LOCPACK is manufactured by Graphic West Packaging Machinery (USA), and is the world’s fastest fully automated solution for packing lockbottom cartons in alternating batches. LOCPACK can significantly increase folder gluer speeds while still requiring only a single operator to load empty cases. LOCPACK is also suitable for 6-corner cartons and a variety of other styles.

- A new Omega Intro 80, fitted with the Omega Braille unit and linked to a Gämmerler Robot Packer, will be running straight line and 4 corners.
The Braille system is for high-speed embossing on blanks from 35cm to 90cm width. This fully adjustable servo driven system has a male disc plate that can have dual or triple embossing to maximise productivity. The unit can be by-passed when embossing is not required, and can be integrated with quality assurance systems for Braille embossing. The Robot Packer allows delivery of the full range of carton handling solutions. Gämmerler provides stacking, strapping, shrink-wrapping, packing and palletising units for cartons, which are designed for optimised operation behind an Omega line.

Gämmerler has specialised in automation project solutions for more than 30 years, mainly in the printing area, with more than 4000 projects completed worldwide. Principal competences are conveying, automation, controls and robotics. State of the art technology and a worldwide network of service technicians are key support factors for high quality and sustained availability of installed machines.

The new Omega Intro 80 and new Intro 145 join the popular Intro 110 that was successfully launched in 2014 and has already enjoyed sales success with customers from Europe to South America. According to Duran, the Intro range has been extended as a result of heavy demand from converters who value the Intro 110 features, but need a smaller or larger format machine.

A first for Duran will be the inclusion of an Iberica Optima 106 (750 x 1060mm) die cutter on the Drupa stand. The Optima range, which was launched in 2008, incorporates operator friendly innovations for ease of handling, and retains Iberica’s renowned build quality and performance for increased productivity. Manufactured in Barcelona, the Optima 106 is able to die-cut a range of paper, plastic, board and corrugated material. Iberica AG S.A. represents the Omega range of folder gluers in Spain, and as a mark of increased co-operation and to showcase a ‘one-stop’ option for converters, the opportunity of a combined exhibit was too good to miss.

Drupa 2016 marks a milestone for Duran Machinery. Established and developed as designers and manufacturers of high-quality folder gluers, the company, through its cooperative associations with leading specialist suppliers, has grown into a full system solution provider for carton and corrugated converting.
