The first Comexi Offset CI8 is currently starting production in Inplacsa facilities, the converter which is located nearby Comexi (Cassà de la Selva, Spain). CI8 was installed in September-October 2012, in November there was a start-up, in December - presentation to the customers, and demos. In January-February first trials and production jobs took place.
Comexi presented Comexi Offset CI8 for the first time to the audience at drupa 2012. It is the first web-offset press for printing variable lengths over a central impression drum. The innovative idea links the advantages of both offset variable length and flexo central impression drum printing in one press for flexible packaging. The combination overcomes conventional in-line offset machines by the fact of easily printing thinner and elastic materials (BOPP, PET, PE, PA, OPS, PVC, etc).
The offset printing is being offered to customers, giving the following benefits: lower costs per square meter (low cost of litho plates printing form), high quality (fading screens/fine screens/micro text) added productivity decreased, ecological impact thanks to the solvent free EB offset inks, higher energy efficiency, high production flexibility with fast response Time-to-Market.
