First KBA Commander CT at New Luton Plant

After more than 24 years in London’s Docklands, production of the Daily Star is being switched 40 miles north to a new plant in Luton, where Express Newspapers’ owner Richard Desmond fired up the first of four KBA Commander CT press lines on 28 November. hen the last has been commissioned in March next year the plant will also print the Express Group’s Daily Star Sunday, Daily Express and Sunday Express.

Continuation of manroland Business Operations Secured

For the insolvent manroland AG the provisional insolvency administrator Werner Schneider has secured an agreement for a so-called “Massekredit” (similar to debtor-in-possession financing). “Continuation of production and business operations at manroland is therefore secured,” said Werner Schneider, a financial auditor. “The company can continue to do business with customers and suppliers and we are sending a very positive signal to the market.”

A new European research reveals that all generations prefer paper to digital, also the Digital Natives (18-24 year olds). In a wide-ranging new survey, a new generation of digital natives show strong preferences for paper; still the favoured medium of all age groups for reading.

Kodak Shuffles Restructuring Advisers

Eastman Kodak Co. has reportedly shuffled its restructuring advisers in its battle to shore up its finances and steer clear of bankruptcy. The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday that Kodak has hired Sullivan & Cromwell's restructuring practice to advise on ways to rework its finances. Citing sources it did not name, the newspaper says Kodak is no longer being advised by Jones Day's restructuring practice.
